Credit:  3 hours.

This course satisfies the General Education Criteria for a
Quant Reasoning II course.

Numerical methods needed in actuarial science including iterative methods of solving equations, interpolation, numerical integration and linear systems. In addition, the theory of finite differences, and applications to actuarial problems will be covered. The level will be consistent with professional examinations in the field. Credit is not given for both MATH 470 and CS 457 / MATH 257. Prerequisite: MATH 210; MATH 241 (formerly MATH 243) or MATH 242; a 100-level computer science course; or consent of instructor.
