Quantitative Genetics

Credit:  3 or 4 hours.


Mathematical theory of the genetics of quantitative traits: properties of random-mating populations; estimation of repeatability, heritability, and genetic correlation; genetic results of selection; selection methods; correlated response; and selection for more than one trait. Application to animals and plants. Students desiring 4 hours credit do additional work in some area of quantitative genetics. Same as IB 417. Prerequisite: ANSC 446; and credit or concurrent registration in ANSC 445, or CPSC 540; or consent of instructor.
