Analysis of Japanese hero and heroine archetypes in comparison with their Western counterparts: from shaman ruler, Don Juan, samurai romantic, and feudal paragons to modern superfluous hero and self-destructive hollow man. Discussion with readings and films. Same as CWL 318. No knowledge of Japanese required.
