Bioinformatics & Func Genomics

Credit:  3 hours.


Introduction to theoretical and applied aspects of modern systems biology, bioinformatics, and functional genomics. Topics include public-domain biological databases, sequence alignment and analysis tools, phylogenomics, collection and analysis of genomic and proteomic data, data mining, structural genomics and fundamentals of molecular modeling. Concepts are complemented with hands-on experience with computational biology databases and bioinformatic tools. 3 undergraduate hours. Prerequisite: MCB 354 or consent of instructor.
