The Communications Industry: People, Places and the Pillsbury Doughboy. This course will cover a variety of topics designed to help students learn more about the communication industry, with an emphasis on the organizations, people and practices that make things happen in advertising, public relations, journalism and media. First Year Discovery Program Course. Registration restricted to freshmen and students in the Weston Exploration Program. Students should enroll in only one Discovery course.

Global Warming, Katrina, Tsunami, Terrorism-Public Relations in Times of Contemporary Crises. This course will provide students an understanding of how during crises nations use public relations strategies to reach citizens. Students will explore todays technological, multicultural and global environment where science, technology, evil people and nature have challenged humankind in ways once thought unimaginable. They will examine happenings that symbolize the global consequences of what appear to be local occurrences and the interconnectedness of the worlds nation-states. First Year Discovery Course.
