The course introduces students to the important issues in communication ethics in North America internationally. First Year Discovery Program Course. Registration restricted to freshmen. Latin America in Hollywood Film. Drawing on the long history of Hollywood representation of our southern neighbors, this course will explore the changing narratives about the United States, Latin America, and globalization as they are represented in mainstream Hollywood film. The course uses an analytical framework that combines Media Studies in general and International Communications with Latin American and Global Studies in particular. The course highlights issues of location, generation, gender, ethnicity and class as these are implicitly debated in the chosen films. First Year Discovery Program Course.
