This course satisfies the General Education Criteria for a
UIUC Social Sciences course.

Geographic perspectives on contemporary national and international problems. Topics vary each term and include such themes as environmental quality, food production, urban problems, and particular social and political conflicts.

Contemporary Social & Environmental Problems, 3 hours. The course focuses upon the human impact on the environment and the impact of environmental degradation upon humans in the developing world. First year Discovery Program course. Registration restricted to freshmen. Students should enroll in only one Discovery course.
