The College Experience, 2 hours, letter-graded credit. How and why does the University operate, and why should you care? This course takes a critical look at what higher education in America is all about, with special attention to the U of I. We'll watch films (e.g., Animal House, Higher Learning, Blue Chips, In Whose Honor, The Chief, Wonder Boys) and we'll talk about these issues, in depth. This course can be taken for 2 or 3 credit hours. Students who enroll for the 3 credit hour option will investigate the course's topics in greater depth. The course is outlined at https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/hschein/www/. First Year Discovery Program Course. Registration restricted to freshmen. Students should enroll in only one Discovery course.
